Abstract

The mercedes reform carried out by Fernando and Isabel concluded the dispute between the monarchy and the nobility that characterized fifteenth-century Castilian political history. The noble estate consolided its political power, its sources of rents and its privilegied social position, at the same time that the monarchy became stronger. The territorial linegaes of Cuenca´s bishopric saw their incomes decreased, some of them in drastic way, like the Acuña family, that had opposed the Isabeline cause during the civil war.
