Abstract
The extension of lordships in the land around Cuenca entailed its more economically diversified use and provoked continual jurisdictional disputes with the city’s territory. Lords’ villages with limited boundaries burst forth in the mountainous territory dependent on Cuenca. Royal policies tried to balance consular and seigniorial pressures regarding agriculture and stockbreeding by issuing specific ordinances and sending chief magistrates and boundary judges to clarify the limits and rights to exploitation of the land.Downloads
