The Palace of Astudillo as a protocol scenario of the queen María de Padilla
Abstract
The palace of Astudillo still presents numerous questions when trying to establish its morphology in the plant, the space distribution of all its rooms, or the functionality of its spaces. This paper aims to answer some of these questions through a historiographic, documental, and architectonical analysis. As well we aim to vindicate the role of Maria de Padilla, as the promotor of the construction, but as well as one of the fundamental agents in the Castilian politics. The future queen projected in the town of Astudillo a protocol scenario where she could exercise her political functions.
