Calas en torno a la visión orientalista de Antonio de Zayas
Abstract
The work of the Spanish poet Antonio de Zayas Beaumont (1871-1945) is considered to be one of the few examples of Parnassian poetry in fin de siècle Spain. The aim of this paper is to study the way in which Zayas approaches the Orient through an analysis of poetic texts belonging to Joyeles bizantinos and A orillas del Bósforo. These texts formed the basis of a collection of poems and a travel book; both of which were written following a visit made by the author to Istanbul as a member of the Spanish diplomatic corps. Our work focuses on the topic of eroticism, relating to both women and harems, as well as on religion - linking up to an observation of distinct Islamic celebrations.Downloads
