Gnoseology and Meaning of America in the Open Letter to Jacques Lipchitz and other Works of Juan Larrea
Abstract
This paper studies the imaginary of Juan Larrea since a gnoseological point of view. From a philosophical and pneumatological perspective, we will expose the link between Larrea’s teleology of history and his understanding of culture. We will explore all this from aspects developed by the poet in his Open Letter to Jacques Lipchitz (1954), a writing where Larrea exposes the reasons that lead him to understand that America is the land where the Third Age will be revealed. In line with his interpretation of contemporary art, Larrea considers that the new age will be leaded by a transparent, illuminated art.
