The "Sínodo Diocesano", Lima, 1585: A Critical Edition

Abstract

We have three manuscripts of the Sínodo Diocesano that took place in Lima in 1585. Two of this witnesses are in the Archivo del Cabildo de Lima, the other one is contained in the volume Congregazione dei Riti-Processi of the Archivio Segreto Vaticano. The autor of these documents is Toribio Alfonso de Mogorvejo, the third archbishop of Lima. Taking into account these documents this article proposes a critical edition of the Sínodo.
