Abstract

The aim of this paper is to outline the origins of a Latin litany, the Ordo commendationis Animae, analyzing how it is adapted in Romance literatures, specifically how it is used in Spanish medieval poetry, as in the Mio Cid, el Libro de Buen Amor… This approach will allow us to understand the variations, depending on their development, the addition of more or less characters, and the replacement of one for another. These aspects can tell us how the prayer acclimated to literature.
