Abstract

Once discharged into Castilian the novels of Le Piacevoli notti of Straparola will present, in the Honesto y agradable entretenimiento de damas y galanes, a different arrangement established by the translator who, through the decomposition and recomposition of the original order of the novelle and attention to the variatio therefore, offers us a text with an order of novels ex novo. Through contrasts, similarities and systematic alternations, balanced according to a preplanned scheme, Truchado gets a personal construction. As a result of this new site, the translator also takes responsibility for removing some novelle, offering a different translation succession of novels which indicates an original contribution to the acceptance of a classic of Italian literature
