Apuntes sobre la recepción en España de la reforma litúrgico-musical del Vaticano II
Abstract
The Liturgical reform instigated by the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) marked the initiation of various activities that reflected the principles it established and put them into practice via international cooperation, thus fulfilling the Church’s new line of action. Initially, the organisms that matched these characteristics were formed in Rome, but a short time later other international working parties were created. Although they differed in their aesthetic attitudes, they shared the same informative and pastoral objectives. This article presents the situation in Spain, a clear example of the difficulties encountered in the Council’s aftermath in relation to sacred music, as a result of a strong ideological polarisation. The trigger was the musical-liturgical studies week Universa Laus organised in Pamplona, which sparked intense polemics amid wide sectors of society and the ecclesiastical Curia.
