La figura del intérprete en la crítica musical de Óscar Esplá
Abstract
Among the most important figures in twentieth-century Spanish music is Oscar Esplá.The unique personality of the musician from Alicante combined various inter-related facets: he was primarily a composer, but also worked as a critic, musicologist, teacher and thinker. All of these aspects are reflected in his writings and his works, which were backed up by his extensive cultural knowledge and erudition. In the context of his musical compositions, Esplá would develop a current of thought that would mature into a series of aesthetic considerations about the artist and the performer, the work of art and its receiver: the audience. The objective of this article is to explain Esplá’s idea of the role of the performer and his/her impact on musical life.
