The Gender Perspective in the Study of the Representation of the Immigration in Contemporary Spanish Cinema. The case of 'Princesas'
Abstract
This article provides a contextualization of female representation in contemporary Spanish cinema of immigration (1990-2009) as a starting point to raise in-depth analysis schemes characterization and differential attributes that symbolize immigrant women in movies. To illustrate it, this analysis proposes a research methodology and applies it to the film “Princesas”, because, probably, this is the film about female migration has had more social impact in Spain. Among the results, we see a stereotypical view of immigrant women in contrast to the dignity of “otherness” advocated by the tape.Downloads
