History of an Unfinished Journey: communication for development and social change in research and universitary education in Spain
Abstract
The studies of Communication for Development and social change have half a century of existence in the international academic level. Reasons of a political nature and contextual factors explain its late reception at Spain, in the eighties, as well as the marginal attention that has given them our Academy until the first decade of the 2000s. This article offers a panoramic and historical view of the evolution of academical and universitary research and teaching on Communication for Development and social change in our country. It examines the historical circumstances and conditions that over three decades have been marking the development of this field in Spain and provides additional interpretive elements that help to understand the scope and limitations of this process. Finally, point the opportunities and challenges facing its consolidation.Downloads
