La opinión sobre las mujeres austracistas y el imaginario religioso en los sitios de 1706 y 1713-1714 en Barcelona
Abstract
This paper explores the role played by the Austracist Catalan women in the War of the Spanish Succession between 1706 and 1714. It examines their involvement during the sieges of Barcelona, providing human and material resources in a context of extreme civil and military resistance. Special emphasis is given also to the extraordinary ability of these women, along with the clergy, in the creation of a rich religious imaginary of saints and Marian devotions. This was a very concrete contribution in order to legitimize both the city's resistance and the unity of Catalan society in the hardest moments of the conflict.Downloads
