Sexism: in search of the Game Over. Gender representations in the most popular video games in Costa Rica
Abstract
In lieu of the growing relevance videogames have in how we spend our time off, those of us who seek de-constructing gender stereotypes in the direction of recognizing equal rights and opportunities for all, ask ourselves: which gender roles and representations are video games modeling? This paper aims to assess the Costarican reality related to the gender representations in the most popular videogames in Costa Rica. It develops an analysis of the content of the four most popular role-playing video games used through the mobile systems which have the largest penetration in the country: Android and Apple.Downloads
