"Ma dai!": Practical proposals for learning interactional competence in Italian LS
Abstract
This article illustrates a research project aimed at creating classroom teaching proposals to develop awareness of discourse conventions that regulate daily behavior, contributing to the development of the discourse competence in Italian LS.
The first part describes the criteria used for establishing a corpus of face-to-face conversations collected in both symmetrical and asymmetrical situations among Italian native speakers. The second part shows the methodological choices used for developing the blog Ma dai!, and one of the units presented in the same blog.
The presented teaching material allows students to observe the discursive rules in the target language by means of a careful analysis of conversational mechanisms in excerpts of spontaneous conversation. The findings show that the framework created from the Conversation Analysis can be a valuable classroom resource to explore real-life input and raise awareness among learners, developing their interactional competence in Italian LS.
