"Letras Italianas". The Mario Puccini’s literary mediation in "La Pluma" by Azaña and Rivas Cherif
Abstract
This essay examines Mario Puccini’s collaboration with the literary journal La Pluma. The article first provides a quick overview of the literary and cultural relationship between Italy and Spain during the Edad de la Plata; it then analyses Puccini’s twelve articles, constituting the first section on foreign literature of La Pluma, as well as some letters from his private correspondence. His letters, in particular, shows the fundamental role played by Miguel de Unamuno in establishing the cultural collaboration between Puccini and the Spanish literary journal. This careful reading of the sources demonstrates how Puccini cultural mediation influenced the decline of Dannunzianesimo, while promoting Pirandello’s work in Spain. For that purpose, the article takes into consideration also De D’Annunzio a Pirandello, the only critical work by Puccini which recollects a great number of Puccini’s articles first published in La Pluma.Downloads
