Tages etruscus in Roman's imaginary: a study of literary sources
Abstract
The aim of this study is to offer an analysis of the myth of Tages, the etruscan divinity who revealed the precepts of the haruspicy, through the classical literary sources that have transmitted the various aspects of the legend. In that way, a synthesis of the few works and research dedicated to it is carried out and the complete corpus of references extracted from Ancient sources (from the 1st century BC to the 6th AD) is studies together with its cross-commentary, structures thematically, in order to reconstruct the variants of the tale and the intertextual influences. With this, we intend to provide the image of the mythical story and the character that was assimilated and developed by Rome.
