María Zambrano in 1939: spanish realism versus european rationalism
Abstract
The present paper aims to show the convergence and continuity, both in terms of subject matter and meaning, of two central works by María Zambrano published in 1939 from the analisis of two categories, realism and rationalism, with which Spain and the rest of Europe are identified respectively. Likewise, it seeks to show that although for the thinker rationalism leads to the anguish of the modern and contemporary subject for having associated the shape of the system, it will find in realism and stoicism, more characteristic of the Hispanic tradition, the possible way out of this anguish in which Europe finds itself in 1939.
