eflections on Michel de Certeau´s "Une Politique de la Langue"
Abstract
This paper aims to show the reflections of the French philosopher Michel de Certeau (1925-1986), on the process of emergence of social institutions. These have been analyzed, in the framework of Certeau´s anthropology of belief, through his Une politique de la langue, which is about the project of the Abbé Gregoire to impose the French against to patois in the late eighteenth century. After this analysis, its possible to conclude that institutions are founded following a three-step process: a clear definition of the basic beliefs of the institution (developing a corporate speech); expelling the principles of the competence (override of foreign speech); and fight against the resistance of ancient beliefs (use of power).Downloads
