Body and maternity. An art-therapy view
Abstract
The different ways women perceive their own body (before and during pregnancy, during and after childbirth), are influenced, to a greater or lesser degree, by family, social, cultural, policies and also religious conventions. All of these “rules” have been determined by how woman´s relationship with her body is expected to be (before and after childbirth). In Dance workshop for women with babies (“Recently danced”) I have seen how, among other benefits, women are empowered when they recognize and become aware of their bodies potential as source of knowledge, space of reflection and questioning of the established canons of woman´s body.Downloads
