The Arabic variety of the Algerian Sahara (Group A of Cantineau) in the translation of the Gospel of Saint Matthew by Fr. Roberto Focà
Abstract
We present the translation of the Gospel of St. Matthew by the White Father Roberto Focá, published in its first edition in 1932. We have taken as our model the 1938 edition, which contains exegetical notes. We have made a presentation of Fr. Foca and a linguistic study of the text. It is written in a Bedouin Arabic variety belonging to Group A classified by Cantineau. Finally, the reproduction of the 1938 edition is annexed.
