Giovanni Battista Crescenzi: problemas metodológicos en el análisis de su historiografía artística
Abstract
This article analyses the main problems referring to metodological aspects concerning to the Roman Noble Giovanni Battista Crescenzi (Rome, 1577 - Madrid, 1635). In spite of the positive view about the artistic activities and influences of Crescenzi’s artistic knowledge that we could find in the principal biographies and literature of the 17th Century, some of the latest researches have discussed that influence, arguing partial readings and interpretations of some recent founded documents. Another interesting point is the fact that the activity of Crescenzi had almost always been interpreted in a partial way, focused in painting or architecture depending of the countries (Rome and Spain), and just nowadays some historians try to get into a global view of his complex artistic personality and activity.Downloads
