The Historic Archive of Felix Granda’s Company Talleres de Arte and its Application to the Creative Process
Abstract
The company Talleres de Arte Granda maintains an archive composed by more than seventy thousand items. Founded by the Asturian catholic priest Félix Granda (1868-1954) in Madrid at the beginning of the XXth century, its collections and documentary resources are the outcome of its business activities. Dedicated to decorative arts, specially to sacred art, one of its essential features was the usage of traditional trades techniques, as opposed to the industrial production of contemporary companies. Its archive is a must for studying its history and artistic methods. In this article we will address a description of its collection and, through its interrelationship, we will provide a sample of the usage of the repertoire found in its works.
