Dark Reflections: the sinister face of the archives in Black Mirror
Abstract
This article examines two episodes of the television series Black Mirror in an archive key, which means focusing on those elements of the series related to actions of conservation, access and elimination. It also directs its attention towards those elements dealing with patterns of authenticity, accuracy and reliability of records, that is, archive notions that are linked with central aspects within the profession and society such as identity, memory and the past. At the same time, the analyzed episodes, The Entire History of You and Be Right Back, fall within dystopian parameters and uncover their negative potential for contemporary society where information is central.
