Fernando Miranda Casellas (1842-1925). A Valencian artist in Madrid, Paris and New York
Abstract
In 1925, a Spanish sculptor who had spent great part of his life in this American city, died at his home in New York. This was Fernando Miranda Casellas, an artist who was born in Valencia in 1842. He had studied in Madrid and Paris where he left an extensive artistic production focused on graphic illustration. This versatile Valencian artist is barely known and a more detailed study of his artistic production and catalog of his work is needed. In this article, I only intend to offer a biographical profile and some notes on his training and his activity, which exceeded the geographical boundaries of his hometown to Madrid, Paris and New York.
