Attemp to Approarch the Illuminated Manuscripts of the Prince of Viana’s Library
Abstract
The following study addresses the analysis of the illuminated manuscripts that belonged to the library of Charles of Aragon and Évreux, Prince of Viana, based in two master lines traced after reading the inventory of his belongings -which was made after his death on 21st September 1461. The first one studies the illuminated codices related to his private chapel and the second makes an attempt to approach Charles’s library, Prince of Viana, emphasizing the illuminated manuscripts that have survived to this day. The participation of certain illuminators, such as Guillermo Hugo de Luseyo, who joined the princes’s entourage in Sicily, allows to assess the viability of the artistic routes established between Naples, Sicily and Barcelona during this period.Downloads
