Abstract

This work revises the biography of Francisco Heylan engraver and printer (1584-1635). It offers new documentary sources that have generated greater accuracy and precision about the events related to their history and their professional work. We highlight a special way the discovery of the year of death of Francisco Heylan, who was the principal member of a remarkable family of engravers of Flemish origin settled in Andalusia. We have revealed this family social status, both in its origin and in its establishment in Granada. And we include new information over their dedication to the art of typography and the success of your workshop.
