¿Judith or Esther? The Rembrandt of the Prado Museum
Abstract
The painting by Rembrandt in the Museo del Prado, which belonged to Philip IV´s secretary, don Jerónimo de la Torre, has been the object of three identifications: Artemisia, Sophonisba or Judith. We propose a new one with an iconographic analysis that get us to prefer identifying it as Esther, not Judith, despite it was mentioned like that several times in the historical documentation.Downloads
