The mythological iconography in Binche palace under Mary of Hungary
Abstract
Mary of Hungary was the sister of Emperor Charles V and Governor of the Netherlands between the years 1531 and 1556. She played a crucial role as art collector. The present work is aimed at clarifying this aspect from a very precise perspective: the use of mythology in the artistic works she commissioned to act as advertising material and also for her personal pleasure in the Binche palace.Downloads
