Rubén Darío and the impossibility of Spanish modernist theatre
Abstract
Theater was one of the Rubén Darío´s constant journalistic interests ever since his Chilean chronicles. During his Spanish stay, Darío´s chronicles aplty analyze the possibility or rahetr the impossibility, of the development of a modernist dramatic art. Modernismo as a cultural field is a comunal product of a dedicated, prepared and Cosmopolitan brotherhood. For Darío, in spite of a Villaespesa, a Dicenta or a Benavente, the modernista scene cannot arise due to its lack of communality
