Validity of Galdós's language in the 21st century: analysis of locutions in Electra
Abstract
This paper aims to analyse the phraseology used by Benito Pérez Galdós in one of his best-known plays, Electra. We will proceed to a compilation and analysis of the locutions, which represent a sample of the naturalness and expressiveness of the language used by the writer. Afterwords we will check the current use of these phraseological units, in order to highlight the current state of the author's language. The research will be carried out in the corpus of modern Spanish of the Real Academia Española, in order to highlight the current use of these phraseologisms, as opposed to others which have already disappeared from everyday use.
