Staging Memories. Alaejos, Devised Theatre and Collective Memory
Abstract
Theater offers a privileged space for the reflection on the past and the (re)construction of collective memory. The use of devising techniques can contribute to both elaborate a diverse and inclusive historical account and to give voice to stories that do not usually find their place in official history. Additionally, devising theater opens intergenerational channels of communication and transfer of experiences. Alaejos, pocos y lejos by the Spanish troupe Producciones Kepler represents a significant contribution to the debate on the relationship between performing arts and memory, between fiction and remembrance.
