El teatro del postolvido: No parlis amb estranys, de Helena Tornero (2013)
Abstract
This article proposes the notion of postforgetting (postolvido) to reflect upon the recent interest to disrupt the Spanish “Pact of forgetting” and to reclaim, through historiography and fiction, the memory of the Spanish civil war and post-war. The article addresses several authors that have articulated memory discourses in Spain, considers whether fiction can become a place of memory, and addresses postforgetting as a way to articulate the historic specificity of the Spanish 20th century. In the second part, the article analyses Helena Tornero’s play No parlis amb estranys (fragments de memòria), as a paradigmatic work of the theatre of postforgetting.
