The Singularities Maryse Condé's Work in Spain and its Reception in Spain

Abstract

A clearly unclassifiable nature is what seems to characterize the work of the francophone writer and intellectual of Guadeloupean origin, Maryse Condé. In the face of her work’s complexity, this study first answers the question: ‘Can Maryse Condé be considered a mediator of a certain African literature in Spain?’. The article thus begins with a reflection on this Africa/Antilles ambiguity, and then analyzes the reception of this singular corpus in Spain. With the aim of determining circulation phases and modalities within this cultural transfer, the research has been limited essentially to the scientific context. Such delimitation has made it possible to probe the limitations and perspectives of her reception in Spain, and establish in Spain Condé’s role in the transnational transfer of African literature.

Isaac David Cremades Cano, Universidad de Murcia

Professeur de philologie française à l’université de Murcia (Espagne), ses principaux travaux de recherche mettent en rapport l’oralité et l’identité féminine dans la littérature antillaise, dont le thème de sa thèse du doctorat, dédiée à l’analyse de l’œuvre de Maryse Condé sous cette perspective. D’autre études concernant par exemple l’univers poétique des haïtiennes Marie-Célie Agnant et Marie Vieux-Chauvet ou les aspects interculturels de l’écrivaine d’origine guadeloupéenne Gisèle Pineau, ainsi que des recherche autour de la notion de littérature migrante (Laura Alcoba, Riad Sattouf, Jung Henin, etc.), se complètent avec son expérience dans l’enseignement universitaire, ce qui oriente actuellement ses travaux dans le domaine de la critique littéraire et en didactique des littératures francophones.
