The image of the union in the 21st century in light of its response from the New Trade Unions.
Abstract
The aim of this article is to update the criticisms that the majority union has received since the second half of the 20th century. In particular, it incorporates the provenience of experiments in the field of the representation of workers that emerged at the beginning of the 21st century, called New Trade Union Movements. The questions linked to the questioning of their model of action and participation, the distancing of the transforming utopia and the commitment to confronting the change of the economic paradigm, questioning the concepts of different resources of union power. Conclusions suggested by the research carried out in Catalonia, whose empirical methodology has been based on the literary review and the qualitative analysis of the semi-structured interviews in different representatives of the union, academic and employer's field.
