Abstract
Operaísmo and the resurgence of Italian Sociology
In this paper, an analysis of operaísmo (workerism), a political and countercultural movement in Italy of the sixties and seventies, is carried out from a historical and sociological viewpoint. The results reveal the contradictory role played by the ope-raístas (workers) regarding the revival of Sociology in Italy. We highlight their con-cepts and, as regards Spain, we point out how little ground has been covered res-pect to critical thinking. After compiling considerable documentation, as well as monitoring current political developments in line with a triangulation of sources, we also triangulated qualitative methods of critical analysis, comparative methods among different countries, trends and theories and reality observation methods in order to weigh them up with the claims and most important viewpoints.
