Abstract
The description of spaces and places is extraordinarily significant for the narrative representation of remembrance. The literary scenification of remembrance is frequently linked to the spatial representation. Space articulates and structures the memory that realizes in remembrance. In his novel Too Far A field Günter Grass presents the last centuries’ German history through the remembrance of main figures and the description of buildings, streets and squares in Berlin. By means of the description of urban space and remembrance, past is recalled and interpreted, and history is constructed. The article analyses the relationship between space, remembrance and historical past in Günter Grass’ Too Far A field.Downloads
