El arte de la guerra y la guerra del arte: literatura patriótica y estrategia militar en Über das Marionettentheater
Abstract
The political radicalization of the cultural environment in Berlin after the defeat of Auerstädt generated a strong patriotic trend in German literature, but also led to a re-evaluation of the classical Prussian military doctrine. This article aims at showing the influence of Clausewitz theories on Über das Marionettentheater as a characteristic example of the confluence between literature, politics, and military thought. An analysis of the way both authors employ the concept Schwerpunkt as a metaphor will help to illuminate the relationship between Clausewitz, the most influent strategist of this period, and Kleist, the writer who exploited the aesthetic value of war.Downloads
