“Sprichwörter” in the German Dictionary of the Brothers Grimm: Texts, Contexts and Grade of Survival at Present
Abstract
This paper deals with the presence of “proverbs” in the German Dictionary of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm from the point of view of the resources that allow to identify the paremiological units registered in the description of the different entries as well as the peculiarities that are reflected in the criteria adopted for placing these in the definition item of the article. On the other hand, I will make a checking of the grade of survival of the inventory extracted from the Dictionary through the contrast with a representative corpus from the paremiological minimum in modern German.
