Expresiones de luna nueva en las inscripciones jeroglíficas mayas
Abstract
The subject of this article is the reading of the glyphs that in some Maya inscriptions substitute to the so called Glyphs E and D. The paper restarts the idea, suggested previously by some scholars, that these glyphs did reference to the new moon phase. After realizing an epigraphic analysis, the present work proposes readings for varied of these unusual glyphs. The article concludes that the ancient Maya would have explained, sure enough, with special linguistic expressions to designate the process of disappearance-invisibility-appearance of the moon.Downloads
