Abstract

This paper presents the transcription of the “Written European Book” explaining the so-called Códice Cuevas from the Archivo General de Indias in Sevilla. Spanish texts are contained in eight of the nine pages of the expediente including the Memorial and Información realized by Alonso Hernández de Añover and related to Juicio de Residencia against corregidor Francisco Rodríguez Magariño accused of “bad treatment” of the natives from Tenayuca. On the other hand, alphabetic commentaries are also included in the four accompanying pages containing imagery. Considering that this document has never been published in its entirety, my study includes the analysis of its material base as well as its complete paleographic transcription.
