La política de comunicación del partido popular: el caso de la televisión local
Abstract
In the last years there has been e new situation in the field of mass media in Spain, partially due to the fact that Law 41/1995 on Local Television has not attained its objectives. Since there is no pattern in the development of local audiovisual, the number of senders has exploded and, according to the Mass Media Research Organisation now reach some 700. This paper studies how the situation has evolved since the times previous to the 1995 Law, gives some reason to explain the lack of effectiveness of the law, discusses the roles of the Spanish Ministries of Development and Science and Technology in that matter and focuses on the aftermath of the new situation. Providers of national TV products and big communication groups are taking up positions in growing numbers in this field generating a uniform TV throughout the whole country. The paper discusses the situation right now and points to the consequences that the expansion of a model of audiovisual net based on stations (akin to that in Italy or the USA) might have for the Spanish communication structure.Downloads
