Abstract

This work performed a comparative analysis of the labour markets and its relationship with the social spending in Latin America using indicators of labour market from tabulated of the Permanent Survey in Homes in 18 countries of the continent and data of the Commission for analysis of public expenditure of ECLAC.
The paper argued that, there are two welfare models in Latin America and are structured from the interaction between occupational model and the specific characteristics of labour market. The difference in both groups lies in the ways that the population are integrated. The article conclude that the role of the informal sector in economic growth and in the processes of social stratification, makes the informality a differential factor because produce that the social exclusion appears in two levels; first in terms to stay inside or outside of the occupational structure; second to stay incorporated in a in a precarious way.
