Abstract

Sociology has considered money as a means of calculation that makes feasible the adaptation of rational actor to material condictions of society. Money represents a model of action/actor that meets the current needs of social order. Yet it can also be considered as a part of a mentality (spirit of capitalism) that promote the accumulation of money as a form of recognition and social distinction The study of imaginary dimension of money highlights the fact that self-made-man wanted to go beyond the present and to last in the memory of society.
