Universal Basic Income and Care Income in feminist debates. The perspective of the reappropriation of wealth
Abstract
The article reviews debates around the Universal Basic Income (UBI) and Care Income (CR) and, based on this, presents critical feminist discussions about the UBI; analyzes the framework, also feminist, that defends the need to reappropriate income; and develops it in relation to the recent proposal for a CR. Finally, the text raises questions about how to articulate the discussion and politicization of the UBI and CR proposals, considering the persistent sexual and racial division of labor, the dynamics of commodification, and the demands for the reappropriation of social wealth. In order to develope these analyses, we start mainly, although not exclusively, from references on and from Latin America.
