The Triple Presence. A socio-political participation approach from feminist perspective

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the experiences, the imaginaries and the strategies for balance domestic and care work, employment and political participation. For that, the pertinence of "threefold presence" is presented, which is a theoretical and analytical tool to delve into the participation from a feminist perspective. This study is situated in the Basque Country and is based on the analysis of fourteen biography-interviews carried out during the 2016 year whit people of different generations who are engaged in these three areas of life analyzed in the investigation. The study demonstrates that people who assumed the domestic and care work are still suffering important barriers to engage in the public sphere generally and in the political arena, particularly. As conclusion, the importance of introduce temporal dimension in participation debates is confirmed. In that sense, the study shows that feminization of poverty is linked to time, moreover, the claim of own time become crucial in the context of the threefold presence.
