Representations of Nowadays Urban Society in Contemporary Spanish Television Comedy Series: Costumbrism and Social Identity
Abstract
Since their origins, the Spanish television comedy series have been characterized by a costumbristic profile in their contents, narrations and characters. Being a genre permanently used, even contemporary productions denote such profile adapting their discourses to nowadays reality. From the analysis of two contemporary Spanish TV comedy series with an outstanding commercial success, this essay analyzes the stereotypic and topic representations that they carry out of the current urban society in order to study their representations of social identity.Downloads
