Abstract

The article approaches pilgrimage and the Galician Christian Nationalism just before the Spanish Civil War. The religious festivity is dealt with based on two points: a) It had, according to the Galician nationalists, the marks of being Galician, a fundamental aspect to the invention of a nationality; b) the time and history perceptions of these Galicianisms were both of a teleological nature. The study of these issues is based on the work of Ramón Otero Pedrayo (1888-1976), a prolific and reknown Galicianist of the period.
