Abstract

Telesio’s theory of comets developed in connection with the two great celestial novelties of the 1570s decade In the two first editions of his De rerum natura (1565 and 1570) Telesio’s conception was already quite Aristotelian ; Except in that that his own cosmology required to him Only with De cometis et lacteo circulo ; Wrote around 1580 ; Telesio breaks with Aristotle’s theory of comets and Milky Way ; Proposing a new explanation significantly different from his own theory of 1570 My aim is to recreate the causes and the reach of Telesio’s new hypothesis.
