Defensione delle donne by Agostino Strozzi. Two mysterious manuscripts
Abstract
Defensione delle donne, by Agostino Strozzi is one of the most significant phylogin works in the Italian language composed at the end of the 15th century. We are aware of the existence of two versions collected in two manuscripts that present significant contrasts between them. One of them most extensive and above all, most radical in its arguments in defense of feminine virtues, is dedicated to her cousin Margherita Cantelmo. This work describes and delves into the contrasts present in both version or, in other words, in what we can consider as two mysterious manuscripts.
